Inför fotbolls-VM: Djurens Rätt uppmanar Ryssland att ta hänsyn till de hemlösa hundarna

I brevet skriver Djurens Rätts förbundsordförande Camilla Björkbom:

”I would like to express our concern regarding the news that reached us from Russia about the killing of stray animals as the World Cup is approaching. Our hope is that the Government of the Russian Federation instead of the killing of stray animals, can find a humane solution for handling the animals during the World Cup.

Many people care about animals, and how animals are treated also reflects the values of a society. I would like to ask the Government of the Russian Federation to consider if money can be re-allocated to good shelters, collaboration with volunteer organizations, and neutering programs. Neutering is the only solution proven to control stray dog population. In fact, neutering programs have also proven to be more cost effective than killing.

The above mentioned measures would provide humane solutions that in the long run are both more effective and cheaper.

The killing of stray animals transmits a negative image around an important and otherwise positive event such as the World Cup. “

Om mindre än en vecka avslutas vårt upprop för att stoppa dödandet av de hemlösa hundarna - hjälp oss att göra deras röst hörd genom att skriva under uppropet.
